Airflow Instrumentation & Test Equipment
Under Health and Safety guidance it is strongly recommended that your extraction system or unit can be checked periodically to ensure it is still effective at controlling the airborne contaminates it is in place to handle. Legally you are required to have your LEV system Thoroughly Examined and Tested every 14 months. Airflow indicators are checked as part of the mandatory LEV inspectors Thorough Examination and Test.
Airflow indicators can be simple analogue pressure gauges or digital indicators with a display screen. For ducted Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems it is recommended that airflow indicators be fitted to provide a visual indication that there is airflow in the system. For a more accurate measurement of airflow in any LEV system an anemometer (airflow meter) should be used.
