Any application that includes grinding and de-burring will create dust that could require immediate extraction. Grinding dust from abrasive wheels is made up of extremely fine particles from the metal and the wheel.

This metal dust can be very dangerous to your health, especially beryllium and zinc. The dust from these materials requires careful control.

Metals such as zinc also give off toxic fumes when heated above their boiling point. Lead and Mercury fumes are very harmful. Their effect is cumulative in the body and can cause irreversible damage. They can also cause a condition known as ‘Dusty Lung’. This is scar tissue that builds up in the lining of the lungs that contributes to serious, chronic lung problems.

Depending on the nature of the work application, grinding and de-burring can create airborne metal, composite, rubber or fibreglass dust that is particularly dangerous to inhale.

Whether from an angle grinder, die grinder or an automated grinding machine, dust and particles will pollute your workplace unless they are properly extracted. The key is to remove dust and particulate before it reaches the breathing zone of nearby workers.

Here at Vodex, we offer a wide range of products for de-burring and grinding dust extraction. Whether you need localised metal dust extraction, mobile dust extraction, or high-volume grinding dust extraction, we have a solution for you.
