These UVC bulbs allow direct UVC radiation to kill viruses and bacteria in the filters. These should be replaced every 6 months or approx. 200 hours of use, as the light intensity fades over time, causing the alarm to sound on the unit.
Micro-organisms are mostly sensitive to germicidal wavelengths around 254nm. With UVC radiation, the DNA is modified and no further reproduction occurs. This process assists with UVC micro-organism disinfection on the exposed filter surface.
