Fume extraction and respiratory protective equipment when welding and cutting – Awareness days.
Following the ‘Time to Clear the Air’ campaign, HSE has again been able to join up with the AWD (Association of Welding Distribution) to run a series of events specifically on fume extraction and respiratory protective equipment when welding and cutting. These FREE events are suitable for fabrication companies and anyone who weld or cut metals as well as those that supply welding equipment and consumables.
Event Overview
For the industry by the industry. By attending the half-day event you will:
• Get practical advice from industry specialists in welding fume extraction, industrial gases and PPE
• See demonstrations of how LEV works and perhaps more importantly, why it often doesn’t!
• Get key, practical tips on how to minimise the amount of fume and let you weld faster
• Get the best from your fume extraction system (saving you money!)
• Find out how to optimise your capital spending by getting the best out of your LEV/PPE supplier
• Get impartial advice from a wide range of suppliers of welding goods and services
The event aims to improve your understanding of the practical steps you can take to reduce the risk from metal fume. By the end of this seminar should be able to better assess your needs and understand the factors involved in controlling exposure to welding and cutting fume. Not only will you be protect your workers from ill health but you will also be able to optimise your spending by specifying the most appropriate gases and fume control systems.
Presentations will cover local exhaust ventilation, general mechanical ventilation, optimising your welding consumables and respiratory protective equipment. There’ll be plenty of time to ask questions and get further one-to-one advice.
