At VODEX, we have gathered a fair bit of experience in the beauty industry. Since we are so involved in it, we thought it would be only natural for us to sponsor and provide extraction solutions for the Nail Safari Event.
The event took place at Shepreth Wildlife Park (in their Education Room, not out with the animals, unfortunately! Can you imagine doing a red panda’s nails?). It was on from the 18th to the 22nd of November.
In this 5-day educational event, thirty nail technicians learned new techniques, and also created fantasy structures and extreme nail shapes.
Now, since they were going to be using the same nail products and techniques they’d use in their salons, they needed the same protection.
Why Did They Need Extraction?
Most people don’t realise it, but the products used in beauty salons can release fumes and vapours that can be harmful to you in the long term. Even dust generated from nail filing – from both real as well as acrylic nails – can affect your lungs over time
This is why we offered some of our expertise (and extraction products!) to help them keep the event safe for everyone concerned. Since there were thirty technicians, we promised them 15 Dual SalonAIR® units with bamboo extraction arms.
With two flexible arms, they’d have been placed between two nail technicians, extracting any vapours that were generated at the source.
Why Did We Do It?
VODEX, as a company, is deeply committed to workplace health & safety. Two people who are extremely passionate about extraction helped create the business, and one of them is an expert in the field, having been in the extraction industry for over 35 years.
This means everyone who is a part of this company feels strongly about extracting dust and fumes to create a safer workplace, whether it is in the construction industry or beauty salons.
In fact, VODEX Beauty Sales Advisor, Natasia-Louise James worked as a Health Care Assistant in A&E previously. She is quite familiar with lung or breathing problems and how it can affect people, as well as how vapours or dust in the workplace can make them worse.
As a regular beauty salon visitor, she is committed to making the spaces safer for everyone. Since most of the time, the problem is that people aren’t aware of the solutions available, she has taken it upon herself to spread the word.
With the wide range of beauty extraction systems available with VODEX, it is only natural that she does it by demonstrating how well they work.
Was the Event Successful?
The event was a huge success and we saw some stunning creations crafted by the participants. Honestly, we were a little bit envious of the talent these people displayed!
Unfortunately, due to the lack of space, we could only fit in 4 Dual SalonAIR® units, which weren’t quite enough but at least it was better than nothing! While they would have been best at extracting fumes at the source, they did help as air purifiers for the room, to a degree.
In fact, the units we provided were the standard configuration. The model comes with optional upgrades that include a stainless steel FileOTray® or a White/Black FileOWay®.
